Bergen Youth Orchestra Auditions

The Bergen Youth Orchestras will hold their auditions for young musicians on August and early September for the season 2012-2013. The orchestra’s Three Ensembles are a promising opportunity for young musicians. This leading youth orchestra program in the New York Area will hold auditions in the St. Paul’s Church at 113 Engle Street in Englewood, New Jersey. The Bergen Youth Orchestra will have musicians from 6 years of age upto high school.

The orchestra program invites young musicians Northern New Jersey and New York. The program will have three separate parts for performance- Concert Strings, Philarmonia and the advanced Symphony. However, though all orchestra musicians are invited to the program, the Bergen Youth Orchestra is specially looking for percussion, string bass, timpani, and trumpet, trombone and tuba players. Students are supposed to play a prepared piece of their choice and also play on one or two major scale piece chosen by BYO. They will also be asked to perform a short sight reading.

The BYO advanced symphony is an orchestra for young musicians who want to explore standard to unusual symphony works. The Philarmonia will showcase intermediate ensemble that examines both standard and arranged repertoire. The Concert Strings will see an entry-level string orchestra designed for the early ensemble experience.
