Redlands Symphony Orchestra

Redlands Symphony Orchestra, which is directed by Jon Robertson, would show a concert of music from Norway and Finland on 25th January, at 8 pm in University of Redlands Memorial Chapel. The concert would start with Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia. After that, Lisa Leonard, pianist, would join the orchestra to do Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto, and the orchestra would resolve with Sibelius’ Symphony number two.

Doors open at 7 pm, and Robertson would offer a pre-concert public lecture at 7:15 pm. Robertson told that among his many career adventures, he hold precious the time he spent living in Sweden and conducting for almost years in Kristiansand in Norway.

He added that the Scandinavian composers’ music made a powerful impact on him. There is something about the harmonic and melodic structures which appear to speak to the sheer beauty of Nordic landscape and the elegant fondness of its people. Nielsen, Sibelius, Berwald, Grieg - all convey a beauty that is at once recognizable as well as distinct from European composers of the same period.

This restate engagement with Redlands Symphony Orchestra notes Lisa Leonard’s very first performance of Grieg Piano Concerto since 1990 when she, at the age of just seventeen, made her debut with National Symphony Orchestra in 6 concerts at Kennedy Center.
Single tickets for Redlands Symphony begin at US$ 15. 4 concert donations are also available beginning at US$ 54.
